The Women's College

Academic, cultural, social and personal development is paramount to a dedicated staff who seek to realise the College mission: to foster educated women leaders. Many outstanding women graduates and professional women of distinction have passed through College, from Australia's first woman Ambassador to the United Nations and current Governor of Queensland, Her Excellency Dr Penelope Wensley to Brisbane's first woman Lord Mayor Dr Sallyanne Atkinson and Queensland Premier The Honourable Anna Bligh.

A high proportion of Collegians have also been university medallists.
Community involvement is encouraged in The Women's College, giving substance to the College motto Capimus ut dividamus; - we take so that we may share.

Fundraising ventures
Several ventures have been completed in recent years such as the building of the Piddington Wing, for senior and postgraduate women students, and The College Playhouse, a most desirable venue for drama, musical performance, debates, and seminars. In the 2001-2002 summer vacation, a complete refurbishment of the bathrooms in College took place. At the end of 2003 the kitchen was completely refurbished.

In the year 2000 a project was commissioned whereby Classic Stained Glass of Toowoomba installed five stained glass windows in the upper windows area of the Harriet Marks Dining Hall. These record the history of The Women’s College from its foundation in 1913 to date. This caught the imagination of some benefactors and we were happy to dedicate a window in their honour.

The conference rooms attached to The College Playhouse have also been dedicated to a former collegian, Dr Lurleen Perrett, an Honorary Fellow of College.
