Admissions

The offer of a place in College is based on the Head of College's judgement of an applicant's ability to
contribute to and gain from College life, and the offer of a place in the University of Queensland. In assessing this, the Head will consider the student's written application, her referees' reports, and her performance at interview. Re-admission to College is by invitation from the Head of College, and is dependent on satisfactory completion of academic studies throughout the year, the student's general conduct, and contribution to College life.

Academic Activities & Facilities

The College houses a computer laboratory (IBM compatible machines), a photocopier, four pianos (including a Grand), music practice rooms, several tutorial rooms and an airconditioned library/reading room. Academic support is also available through the academic tutorial program, and access to microscopes, physiotherapy plinths, skeletons and the Internet. The Women's College recognises and encourages academic excellence through the annual awarding of prizes, scholarships and bursaries.

Pastoral Care

A nurturing and supportive environment is created by the Head of College, and her staff. The Dean of Students provides pastoral care support to all students.  A Senior Resident and nine Resident Assistants, themselves senior or postgraduate women, are also appointed by the Head of College to live among the students, offering friendship and guidance.

Social, Sporting & Cultural Activities

Students can pursue a wide range of activities within College and through the Inter-College Council.

The Women's College enjoys a strong and lively sporting tradition. Students can play tennis on their own all-purpose ball court, or take a short stroll to the University swimming pool and gymnasium.

Social functions are organised throughout the year and the cultural program, including drama, choir, and debating, offers something for all tastes.
