Another very successful Standing Committee Luncheon was enjoyed by over 100 College alumnae and friends which again highlights our very supportive collegial community.
Guest Speaker, Dr Yasmina Sultanbawa, gave a fascinating speech about her research and her personal life as a muslim woman. You can see Yasmina 'in action' on Landline in July 2016 in which she was interviewed about her research. To watch the program go to http://www.abc.net.au/landline/content/2016/s4501893.htm
Money raised from the Standing Committee Luncheon provides income for four academic prizes offered to Women's College residents:
Margaret Piddington Prize awarded annually to the second year Arts student with the most meritorious performance.
Chislehurst Prize awarded to a student who achieves outstanding academic results in a year where recognition from other College awards does not prevail.
Vera Jones Prize awarded to a first year collegian who had contributed significantly to College since arriving.
Joan Robinson Prize awarded to a second year resident who is deemed to be academically meritorious and to have made significant contribution to College activities.
We would like to thank everyone who attended, donated and supported the Standing Committee Luncheon in the College's 103rd year.
