The Women’s College within the University of Queensland starts 2019 with two new senior staff members.
College Council President Dr Sallyanne Atkinson AO has announced the appointment of Mrs Florence (Flo) Kearney as Head of College and CEO and Ms Sally Northcroft as Dean of Students.
Council is delighted that such a distinguished and experienced educator of young women as Flo Kearney has accepted our invitation to lead the College. She has a reputation as a successful educational leader and an inspirational role model for colleagues, staff and students, coupled with proven effective business acumen and managerial skills. Thousands of Queensland girls, both in their schooldays and afterwards, have been influenced by her leadership. We know that influence will continue to benefit the students of Women’s.
Sally Northcroft will bring her background in team sports and in teaching, and her residential college experience to her role in the pastoral care and support of our young women, and we are thrilled that she will be part of our senior management team. She was Director of Sport at Brisbane Girls Grammar for seven years and Head of House, physical education teacher and hockey coach at Somerset College, Mudgeeraba, Queensland, before moving to Sydney.
Both Mrs Kearney and Ms Northcroft will live at College with their families and will be in residence when the University year begins in mid-February.
