We are saddened to announce that Past Principal of the Women’s College, Dr Maureen Aitken (1991-2008) passed away on Thursday 9 July. Dr Aitken had a very significant influence in the life of Women’s College and is the second-longest serving Principal. She had also been Vice-Principal of the Women’s College since April 1990.

Dr Aitken held a BA with First Class Honours in French Language and Literature, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a PhD from the University of Queensland. In 2007, she was awarded the degree of Doctor of the University for her work in College and in 2010, became a Fellow of the Women’s College.

Details regarding a celebration of life to recognise Dr Aitken’s outstanding service to the Women’s College will be announced shortly.
