Women’s College residents have always had a flair for fashion. In the 11 March 1970 issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly, a few residents were featured in the Weekly Fashion News section. Ann Bromwich (1967 – 1970), Ruth Limmage (1968 – 1970), Elizabeth Ryan (1969 – 1970), 1970 Student Club President Margaret Thorsborne (1967 – 1970), and Cora Zyp (1967 – 1970) wore “… some of their favourite clothes for lectures and leisure hours” for the feature.
January 1974 saw the worst flooding in southeast Queensland since 1893. Much of the university campus was flooded. The image shows how close the floodwaters came to the College; the two white buildings to the left of the image are those of The Women’s College.
In this photo, residents Anna Comino (alumna 1975), Shirley-Anne Arlott (1975 – 1976) and Kirsty McKenzie (1975) guard the College.
