We have 255 residents and around 50 associates.
Yes, our fees include the room, cleaning, WI-FI, academic tutorials, co-curricular activities – including sports, cultural, community and social activities – access to wellbeing services, 24/7 security and more.
Yes, each year we award bursaries and scholarships to residents. Currently, around 1 in 4 residents at Women’s receive financial assistance to offset their accommodation fees.
Yes, College can be as busy or as quiet as you want it to be. We try to make sure we cater to every person at The Women’s College. There is always something to do and someone to talk to.
App-operated washing machines and dryers are available throughout the College. We also have washing lines.
All students live in their own room with plenty of cupboard space, a built-in desk and a large window overlooking the lovely green gardens of the College. Rooms are arranged in wings within each building.
You will need to apply online and supply the requested documentation. All applicants will be interviewed either in person or online depending on the location of applicants. Places are then offered in rounds throughout the year.
No, this is an adult community. As a resident, you would need to let the College know if you will be away for a few days, but this is your home and we’re here to help you build independence. So, if you need help with anything, there is 24/7 security, and you can come and go as you need.
Women’s will be your home-away-from-home. There are many residents who come from rural and regional areas, so there is a strong connection to the country. There are also many residents who come from various cities around Australia and world-wide.
We have the best food on campus. Fact. Seriously, the students from other UQ colleges rave about the quality and variety of options.
To make friends, to be in a community, to learn to be independent, to learn more about yourself, to develop as a young adult, and to have fun!
Yes, we have printing facilities. A printer is located in our Study Hub, which also has study and meeting facilities, air conditioning/heating, and a kitchenette. Printing in black and white is free, while printing in colour incurs a small fee.
There are so many! You can be a Student Ambassador, Academic Mentor, a committee member, a convenor for sports and cultural activities, a representative on the Student Club Executive, or a Resident Assistant. They are all volunteer positions and you’re supported with heaps of training, mentoring and development opportunities from our experienced staff and older Woozas.
