In 2020, a new tradition was introduced at the College to acknowledge our Multi-Generational Families. Research was undertaken to identify our current students whose mothers and/or grandmothers are alumnae of The Women’s College.

Each year at our Mother & Daughter Dinner, our Multi-Generational Families are acknowledged and presented with a special badge.

We invite you to watch alumnae from multi-generational families discuss their experiences in 110 Alumnae Stories.

In celebration of the College’s 110th Anniversary in 2024, Mary Wooza (one of our mascots) embarked on a journey around the world.

Embracing the spirit of the sisterhood at The Women’s College, Mary Wooza now travels with alumnae to a range of locations, and her journey is shared through her Instagram profile @wooza_world. We invite you to follow Mary Wooza to further foster our collective sense of pride and connection with alumnae and The Women’s College.

If you would like to share your journey on @wooza_world, please complete the Sisterhood of the Travelling Mary Wooza form.

Share your knowledge with current Woozas in our Career Mentoring Program. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to share your invaluable experiences and insights with the next generation of Woozas!

This voluntary program aims to connect our third-year students and second-year student leaders with alumnae who are employed in professions our students aspire to work in. Whether you’re a seasoned professional, or a rising star in your field, we invite you to become a mentor. Since our students’ interests and study areas cover a broad spectrum of fields and career aspirations, we aim to collate a diverse pool of alumnae mentors. Your guidance and experience are highly valued and can make a significant positive impact on a student’s journey.

Even if you’re not based in Brisbane, we welcome your participation! Distance is no barrier to making a difference. Simply complete this form to express your interest in being part of our esteemed pool of alumnae mentors.

A great way to give back to the College is through volunteering. Here are some ways to get involved:

  • Join the Standing Committee Luncheon working group
  • Be a reunion coordinator
  • Partner with our students: alumnae can provide work experience and internship opportunities for students and young alumnae. This experience provides a competitive edge when students start applying for jobs. It also helps students with developing great connections in the workforce and assists with the transition from university studies to employment as well as workplace preparation.

If any of these options are of interest to you, please contact our Director of Advancement at advancement@womens.uq.edu.au for more details.

Give a Women’s College resident the chance to make a difference in the world by leaving a gift in your Will. A Women’s College residential experience can transform the life of a young person.

Remembering Women’s in your Will helps to ensure that future generations of students continue to receive a life-changing experience.

A gift, no matter the size, will help us to create funds needed for bursaries and scholarships, which will assist students now and into the future. Every gift will make a significant impact in assisting students with financial need.

Since 1914, many alumnae and friends have given to The Women’s College through a gift in their Will, ensuring that students continue to benefit from the residential experience at The Women’s College. We acknowledge some of our alumnae and friends who have generously left a legacy in their Will to Women’s:

  • Ethel Harriet Raybould (1899 – 1987), friend of the College
  • Harriett Marks (1901-1989), Resident 1921-1922, Senior Tutor, Assistant to Founding Principal and Council President
  • May McLean Hancock OBE (1903 – 2003), friend of the College
  • Wilhelmina Gladstone Jameson, friend of the College
  • Hazel Francis (1930 – 2009), Resident 1964 – 1967 & Vice Principal 1969 – 1971
  • Dorothy Marsden (1919 – 2020), Resident & 1939 Student Club President
  • Suzanne Mourot (1918 – 2010), Resident 1939 – 1941
