At The Women’s College, we recognise our responsibility as a leader in higher education to create a culture where safety, respect, and equality are non-negotiable. In response to the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence, the College has developed a comprehensive, Whole-of-Organisation Plan that reflects our commitment to proactive prevention and compassionate, effective response. This plan is not just a compliance measure—it is a statement of our values and a roadmap for meaningful change.
The College commits to working collaboratively with our community so that every student, staff member, and visitor can learn, work, and engage in an inclusive and secure environment, free from harm. By prioritising transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement, we aim to set a benchmark for excellence in addressing gender-based violence in higher education.

Respect and Safety Charter
The Women’s College and its Governing Council affirm their commitment to creating and sustaining a safe, respectful, inclusive and violence free living and learning environment. This Charter formalises our obligations under the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence, a legislative instrument effective 1 January 2026 for university operated accommodation.
We recognise gender-based violence (GBV) as preventable, and we commit to implementing whole of organisation, trauma informed, person centred approaches to prevent violence and to respond safely when it occurs.
