Alumnae Perspectives is a storytelling series that brings to life the voices, experiences, and journeys of Women’s College alumnae.

Through a collection of short video interviews, former residents reflect on their time at College – sharing cherished memories, lessons learned, and the moments that helped shape who they are today. Episode 3: The Honourable Anna Bligh AC

Released August 2025

In our third episode, we are delighted to feature notable alumna The Honourable Anna Bligh AC (1978). In this episode, Anna shares stories about her time at Women’s and insights into how her residency shaped her career. She also gives valuable advice to current residents and associates, saying “It’s only if you really throw yourself into the experience that you’ll make the most of it. And there’s so much to be made of it. So go for it.”

Episode 4: Amanda Johnston-Pell

Released May 2026

In this fourth Alumnae Perspectives episode, we feature Amanda Johnston-Pell (1989 – 1991) who reflects on her global leadership journey, the importance of staying connected to community, and how philanthropy, mentorship and volunteer leadership can empower future generations of women to flourish. Through her story, Amanda demonstrates the enduring impact of women supporting women, noting, “I was surrounded by a community of women who genuinely wanted the other women to do well” at Women’s College.

Episode 1: The Honourable Penelope Wensley AC

In our inaugural episode, we are honoured to feature The Honourable Penelope Wensley AC, an alumna from 1964 to 1967 and former Governor of Queensland. During her residency, Penelope served as the 1967 Student Club President. She fondly recalls how her role at the College influenced her path in leadership, noting, “College really encouraged people not to be shy about succeeding. I believe those values and principles of reaching for excellence became deeply ingrained in me and set the foundation for my career.”

Episode 2: Sallyanne Atkinson AO

In our second episode, we are delighted to feature notable alumna Sallyanne Atkinson AO (1960). In this episode, Sallyanne discusses how she built confidence and resilience during her time at the College. “I think the challenges for all students in the ’60s was being at the university and really having to be a self-starter. But where Women’s College was so fantastic for us, we could come home here and we could share the challenges.”
