Project Description

2023 Academic Dinner & Alumnae Awards

Our 2023 Academic Dinner & Alumnae Awards was an evening where we honoured the exceptional scholarship of our students and acknowledged the finalists and winners of the Alumnae Awards. This event is a highlight on the College calendar, and was held on Thursday 9 March in the Harriet Marks Dining Hall.

The evening began with the Fellowship Ceremony for Emeritus Professor Fred D’Agostino. The College honours women and men of eminence and high achievement in the community, in particular past students and staff of the College. An Honorary Fellowship is the highest recognition that the College can bestow. Emeritus Professor D’Agostino was a Women’s College Council Member from 2012 to 2022. Emeritus Professor D’Agostino was also the guest speaker for this year’s Academic Dinner & Alumnae Awards, and he spoke about the College’s tagline, Ready to Lead, and what it means to be a leader and why getting ready to lead might make sense for our students.

Following Emeritus Professor D’Agostino’s address, Cultural Convenor Sophia Ross performed The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra.

To recognise our students’ achievements, 19 prizes were awarded for academic, leadership and other significant achievements to a diverse range of well-deserving students. Following the announcement of the prizes, we acknowledged the Academic Excellence Achievements of our residents and associates who earned a GPA of 6.0 or above during the 2022 academic year. Fifteen students then received Scholarships for demonstrated excellence in academia, sport and cultural pursuits as well as leadership.

Our Alumnae Award finalists were recognised before the winners for 2023 were announced. These awards were presented by Women’s Council President Emeritus Professor Carol Dickenson AM.

The Women’s College congratulates all students and alumnae recognised at the 2023 Academic Dinner & Alumnae Awards for their achievements.
