Application process

Applications for 2022 will open shortly. Regardless of the Brisbane university you plan to attend, due to high demand, it is advisable to apply online to The Women’s College as soon as possible, and not wait for your university placement in December/January.

The online application form is a one step process where you can review your application form before you submit. You can save and complete the form later or you can complete it at the same time and submit.

Before you start completing your application, please make sure you have reviewed information both about the College, understand the application process, reviewed the application form and have to hand all information you need to complete the application. You will be asked a range of questions including information about your school, background, academic and non academic achievements, your University goals, please take time to consider your approach to these questions.

At the point of submitting your form you will be asked to pay a non-refundable $150 fee to cover administration costs with reviewing and interviewing applicants. This payment is processed via Westpac PayWay and is a secure e-commerce payment gateway. The Women’s College does not ask for or store your credit card details on this website. You will be redirected to pay this application fee. Once the College has received your application and confirmation of the payment processing, the application will move to the next stage.

IMPORTANT: For International Students, offers will not be made until you send The Women’s College the following additional documents (1) a copy of your unconditional offer from the Brisbane university  you are going to and (2) Acceptance form from the same university. You may attach these to the application, if you have them already.

Please contact The Women’s College Registrar – registrar@womens.uq.edu.au – with any application related questions you may have.

You will be asked to source two referees and provided with a referee form to forward to them. In doing so, they will need to complete the reference check form. This can be sent in directly from the referees.  Interview process may happen if the references are not yet provided, but any offers will also be conditional on the receipt of appropriate references.

Think of two people you know well to provide a reference for your application into The Women’s College

  • one referee could be an academic referee, for example, a teacher or other education professional who can comment on your studies to date
  • one referee could be a family friend who has known you for some years or someone you have done some volunteer work for

Note: It is not appropriate that you ask family members or personal friends to act as referees.

Send your two referees the Referee Letter and Report. Politely request that they complete the  Form and send it directly to the College by email. Ask if they could inform you when they have completed the Form so that you are aware your application will be complete. You may also want to inform them that there is no need for referees to provide any extra letters or documentation to the College. Finally, please ensure you allow ample time for referees to complete the documentation.  Note: If  they intend to post the form back, you should provide them with a stamped envelope.

The Women’s College receives your application immediately once you have submitted it online. The following will then happen on confirmation of application fee paid:

  •  Interviews – These can happen in person or via Zoom.
  •  Request and receiving of Reference reports – You will need to advise your nominated referees about this process.
  •  Validation of information, references and any additional information requested from you to finalise the application process.
  •  Conditional or unconditional offers are made.
  •  Acceptance of offer and residency deposit paid.
  •  Residency preparation process initiated.
