The Women’s College Sports Formal Dinner is a special celebration to acknowledge and congratulate residents for their commitment to sporting activities throughout the year.

We will be joined by guest speaker Paralympian Monique Murphy and Sport Convenor Stella Horton in an In Conversation. Click on the toggle below to read Monique’s biography.

Monique survived a fall from a fifth-floor balcony while at university, suffering lacerations to her neck and chest, as well as multiple broken bones. She awoke after a week-long coma to discover her right foot had been amputated. But it was in her waking moment that she made a crucial decision to adapt to her new future; finding courage in the aspects of life she could control.

An elite junior swimmer, Monique returned to swimming after her fall, winning a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games in the 400m Freestyle S10 event – an achievement gained just 900 days after her accident.
